How does it work?
While the unit (CarPlay Head unit) is inactive, the original video signal is passed unchanged and your car works as before.
After activating the CarPlay Head unit, the CarPlay unit video signal is shown on the display instead.
When you reverse the car while using the CarPlay system, the system will automatically switch to the camera without manual operation.
You can easily switch system back and forth between the unit and your original head unit.
(TIPS: Press and hold the “Menu” key to switch the system)

1 What is the factory-set password for the head unit?
Answer：8866
2 After completing the installation, the OEM system displays the wrong resolution.

You need to change the factory settings.

3 Why is there no audio when playing music?
Regarding the problem of no sound, you need to pay attention to the following 2 points:
1. Please check if you have connected the OEM optical fiber to the new power plug.
2. You need to set the sound source to AUX in the OEM system.
If you have done the above 2 items and it still has no sound, please use another AUX cable to connect the AUX output cable of the CarPlay unit and the OEM aux plug.

I got this head unit for my 2015 BMW 2 Series 218i F45 Active Tourer, and it's awesome! Even though finding an insulation youtube video was a bit tricky, the installation was surprisingly easy.
The voice commands work like a charm with the dual front microphones, and the unit boots up super fast. I love how it instantly shows all the original BMW car menu when I press the power button(standby mode). The display is great, showing stuff like open doors, A/C changes, all warning alerts and many more. Plus, it supports an aftermarket reverse camera with guidelines. For the price, it's a fantastic upgrade for my BMW – easy to use and packed with cool features! Highly recommend.
My car had a 6.5" display and really excited to update display settings in BMW factory computer software to get 8.8 full display using Bimmercode.

Overall, having android auto is way better than the standard BMW navigation system. The unit is a bit glitchy at times, o.k. after it resets or when the phone is restarted.
